A family legacy of trust since the 1950s
Fooda Trading W.L.L. is a Bahrain-based food trading company built on a long family tradition of trust, quality, and service dating back to the 1950s. The business legacy began with the late Mr. Khalaf, who was involved in supplying essential food commodities such as rice, sugar, ghee, and cooking oil to support the local community from a small shop on Sh. Abdulla Road in Manama.
In 1978, the second generation, led by Mr. Alawi Al Mahfoodh, officially established the business after gaining more than four decades of professional experience working in Bahrain’s ports, including Manama Port as an inspection officer. His experience in logistics, cargo handling, and trade helped build a strong foundation for the company.
Over the years, the company diversified into several sectors including real estate brokerage under the commercial name of Estate & Trading Est., cargo clearing services, and manpower recruitment through Al Alawi Manpower Agency, established in 1985 in Manama, Bahrain. With strong market experience, the company later returned to its core strength in food trading.
In 2025, the company was restructured as a limited liability company under the same name — Fooda Trading W.L.L. — focusing on food products and brand development. One of its key brands is Suwalif Tea, established in 2017 by Mr. Maher Alawi Al Mahfoodh. What started as a personal passion has grown into a promising tea brand specializing in natural teas free from artificial colors and flavors.
Today, Fooda Trading continues to grow by supplying quality food products and developing trusted brands while maintaining the family values of honesty, reliability, and long-term partnerships.
Milestones Through the Decades
The Beginning
